About SPICAtech Academy

SPICAtech is one of the leading developers for the gaming community in the Arab world.

SPICAtech is a well-established and unique player in the Middle East's non-traditional gaming education.

The key distinguishing feature of SPICAtech is an easily implemented educational technique that enables creative individuals and organizations to create their own video games, applications, and gamification.

SPICAtech offers 15 courses, divided into six levels, in three languages: Arabic, French, and English.

SPICAtech supports the varied disciplines' exact reproduction by using open-source engines: Unity, Scirra, and Unreal Engine.

Our academic partners include Berlin Gaming Academy and DigiPen (USA).

We frequently invite instructors and guest speakers from Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Minecraft.

Our clientele includes schools, colleges, and universities, as well as private businesses and government agencies.

SPICAtech Management

Reine Abbas is one of the first female game designers in the Middle East and the first to be the founder of a video game company, with over eighteen years in the gaming industry and sixteen years in higher education.
She is the CEO and co-founder of Wixel Studios, the first independent gaming company in Lebanon and one of the first in the MENA Region.
She is also the CEO and founder of Spica Tech, one of the few gaming academies in the region.
She continues to be an educator and mentor while actively working as an entrepreneur and business owner. She has been a 2D and 3D Animation and Production Instructor at the University of Saint-Esprit Kaslik and the Academie Libanais des Beaux-Arts since 2003. She also teaches game design at LAU and the Lebanese University.

Abbas’ work has been recognized around the world and she has won many awards, including Inc.com’s World’s five most powerful women in gaming in 2013, one of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Arab Women in both 2014 and 2015 as selected by ArabianBusiness.com. In 2017, she won the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region competition, and in 2019, she won the Cartier Women's Initiative Awards for the Mena Region. She also received four worldwide Best Animation prizes in 2019 for her animated music video "Right Now" by Happy Faces, including the ARFF Paris International Awards, Global Music Awards California, and Venezuela. Besides, she was a TEDx Beirut speaker in 2011 and was featured in Forbes in 2019, and was recently selected by Gamesindustry.biz magazine as one of the world's 100 game-changers.

Najat Rizk has been breaking new ground as a pioneer in business, media and communications. She is the founder and CEO of ALAZEMA media, a strategic communications and media advisory firm specialized in institutional and corporate transformational communications, creative content development, video production and content monetization.

Najat Rizk is a winner of Harvard’s Michael Porter All World Program award for the fastest growing company and as the highest intensity serial woman entrepreneur for two consecutive years. In 2019, she received the “Exceptional Women of Excellence” award from the Women Economic Forum (WEF) for her achievements as an entrepreneur.

At a young age, she was entrusted to launch and manage the top two television stations in the Middle East, Orbit Al Thania (Orbit Network) and LBC SAT channels.

She established the region’s first documentary production company, Firehorse.  During the past 20 years, she has produced over 4000 hours of content distributed in more than 15 countries around the world. Najat is the founder and CEO of TRIARC, a stock footage licensing platform representing videos from the Middle East. Najat is also a founding partner of Beyond Reform and Development, a social enterprise specializing in policy, public management and capacity development across the Arab world and a founding partner of AQRmena, a leader in psychometrics on Mental Toughness and leadership programs.

With a vast experience in the media industry, Najat is a speaker on Entrepreneurship and Media. She is a visiting professor at Columbia University, the American University of Beirut and Saint Joseph University in Lebanon.

Najat is a passionate advocate for women empowerment and inclusiveness, she is an active member of the Lebanese League for Women in Business and a founding member of LWAF (Lebanese Women Angel Fund).
